13 Days Wildlife Safari Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda – Overview

The 13 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari Tour is a wildlife safari in Rwanda and Uganda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari to the best safari parks in these countries.

Your trip activities include a game drive and boat cruise at Akagera National Park, chimpanzee trekking, and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda.

In Uganda, you go for gorilla trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a game drive, and a boat cruise at Queen Elizabeth National park and Lake Mburo National Park.

When you arrive at Kigali International Airport your driver-guide will be there to pick you up using a 4×4 safari vehicle for a transfer to your lodging facility in Kigali town.

The next morning you take a Kigali city tour then transfer to Akagera National Park where you undertake a game drive and boat cruise the next day.

Day 1: Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you meet your driver guide for a transfer to a lodging facility in Kigali where you spend the night.

Day 2: In the morning after breakfast, you go for a Kigali city tour then after continue for a drive to Akagera National Park arriving in the evening.

13 Days Wildlife Safari Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

On arrival for the start of your Rwanda safari at the country’s national airport known as Kigali international airport where you meet your driver guide for a transfer to Kigali town where you spend the night. On arrival, you check in, have a meal and spend the night at the booked lodging facility.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After having morning breakfast, your driver guide will be there to pick you up for a transfer to Kigali town for a short city tour.

You will visit the Gisozi genocide memorial center, markets and many places around then after have lunch.

From Kigali after the tour, you take a scenic drive to Akagera National park arriving in the evening and spending the night at an accommodation in Akagera National Park.

Day 3: Game Drive at Akagera National Park

Early morning after a cup of coffee, you are driven by your driver guide to Akagera park for a wild game drive that brings you up close to the wild animals.

Meeting the early risers, you have chance to sight antelopes, giraffes, Elephants, Buffaloes, bush bucks among many others.

After about 2-4 hours on the drive, you go for lunch then after take an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you are rewarded with sight of wildlife like the hippos, crocodiles alongside numerous bird species. After the boat cruise, you are driven back to your lodging facility where you spend the night.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

You have a hefty breakfast then after be driven to Nyungwe National Park on an amazing journey with stops along the way.

You have a stop at Butare museum and Nyanza museum as you learn more on the culture and traditions of the people of Rwanda.

From here you continue with the drive to Nyungwe forest national park arriving in the evening for check in, dinner and an overnight stay at a booked accommodation facility close to the park.

Day 5: Drive to Nyungwe Forest For Chimpanzee Trekking

Continuing with your Rwanda wildlife safari, this morning, you are driven to Nyungwe forest for chimpanzee trekking. Starting at 8:00am, you spend about 2-4hours trekking the chimpanzees then after return to the park headquarters.

In the forest you also come along several bird species (about 300), several flora species and numerous butterflies.

From here your driver guide transfers you back to your lodging facility where you, refresh, have lunch and relax for the rest of the evening.

Day 6: Drive to Nyungwe Forest’s Uwinka Tourist Reception Center For The Start of The Canopy Walk

Following breakfast this morning you will be driven for about 30 minutes to Nyungwe forest’s Uwinka tourist reception center for the start of the canopy walk.

This 2-hour memorable walk takes you on a tour walking 50m above the ground for 200meters which is a breathtaking experience you cannot compare to any other canopy experience or 2 hours experience.

After the walk above the tree tops on a suspended bridge, you return for lunch and check out of your lodging facility for a drive to Kibuye on the shores of Lake Kivu.

Here you relax at the shores of this pristine lake (the largest in Rwanda) and then spend the night at a close accommodation.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You wake up at the shores of lake Kivu have breakfast and then get ready for the drive to Uganda. Still driving along the shores of Lake kivu you continue with the drive having lunch en route as you cross the border to Uganda.

You arrive in the evening for check in, dinner and an overnight stay at a booked accommodation in Bwindi impenetrable national Park.

Day 8: Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari Experience

At your accommodation facility close to Queen Elizabeth national park, you have early breakfast, then be driven to the Savannah plains for a morning game drive.

Sitting in your 4×4 safari vehicle, you go on a drive through the park for about 2-4hours as you sight several wildlife species inclusive of which are lions, zebras, waterbucks and many more.

After the game drive, you have lunch then embark on a boat cruise along the 45km long Kazinga channel in the afternoon at about 2:00pm.

On a channel that joins lakes Edward and George, sitting on a tourist boat with other tourists, here you will have the opportunity to view great numbers of wildlife like elephants, crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and several bird species. On a return drive to your hotel/lodge you undertake a mini evening game drive towards the hotel/lodge.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

You have breakfast at your lodging facility close to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you are driven to Lake Mburo National Park.

The drive takes you on a road trip out of the Queen Elizabeth Park in the beautiful terraced hills of Kigezi. Taking about 4-5 hours, you arrive in the afternoon for you check in, dinner and spend the night at a booked accommodation in Lake Mburo National Park.

In the evening. You can opt to go for a night game drive in search of the nocturnal wild animals or have an evening nature walk at sunset.

Day 12: Morning Game Drive at Lake Mburo National Park

Early morning, you embark on a morning game drive at Lake Mburo National Park.

In a park popularly known as the host to the whispers of the wild, here you sight several species especially the Zebra’s, Knob’s, antelopes, several bird species and with luck the Red Throated Bee Eater that is endemic to the park.

After a bout 2-4 hours game drive at lake Mburo park, you relax then after go for an evening boat cruise on Lake Mburo in search of the wild animals that reside in th waters of this place including crocodiles and hippopotamuses alongside water loving bird species. In the evening, you return to your lodging facility where you spend the night.

Day 13: Drive to Entebbe International Airport For Departure

You have your last breakfast on this trip and then embark on a drive to Entebbe international airport for departure.

After about 156km on a 2hours 47minutes drive you stop at the equator line in Kayabwe for about 30minutes of photography and water experiments that prove the forces in the central line that divides the earth into the northern and southern hemisphere.
