6 Days Uganda Tour (Primate Tracking Trip) – DETAILED SAFARI ITINERARY.

Day 1 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Transfer to Fort Portal Area. Visit the Amabere ga’ Nyinamwiru Caves, hike the Fort Portal Crater lake field & transfer to Kibale National Park  

6 Days Uganda TourFollowing your breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, you will embark on the transfer to Fort Portal 300km about a 4 – 5 hours’ drive from Kampala. The drive takes you through the impressive landscapes of Mpigi, Mityana, Mubende, Kyegegwa and Kabarole including extensive tea estates at Mpanga and eventually Fort Portal town. In fort portal, you will have lunch after which you will proceed to Amabere ga’ Nnyinamwiru caves exploring the ancient Chwezi heritage which is the breast like features that geologically stalagmites and stalactites to be the breasts of Nnyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku a self-enthroned king of the Chwezi empire following the disappearance of Ishaza. Nnyinamwiru cut off her breasts in protest of her father refusing to breastfeed her son Ndahura who was of the right royal descent and was meant to take the throne.  After his heritage tour, you proceed to hike the Fort Portal Crater lake field which is surrounded by a series of crater lakes with a steep conical hill named Kyeganywa that offers you impressive vows of the area and the distant Rwenzori Mountain. Retire from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park 26km from Fort Portal for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Do Chimpanzee Trekking in the morning & afternoon Bogodi wetland walk

Bigodi Wetland Tour Kibale

Following your breakfast at the lodge, gather at the Kanyanchu Tourism Center at 8 am for a briefing. The park staff will handle this session and talk about the chimpanzee trekking conduct after which you head to the forest in search of our closest cousins. The hike through the jungle with sights of birds, impressive flora and other primate species like Black and white colobus monkeys and eventual encounter with the chimpanzees as they roll themselves in their natural habitat gathering fruit, socializing and making pant hooting calls combine to make your chimp tracking experience memorable. The Chimpanzee trekking tracking tends to last 2 – 5 hours and this includes one hour of direct encounter with them. You will retreat to the starting point for short relaxation and take your lunch. After this, you will drive to the neighbouring Bigodi wetland for an afternoon walk. The Bigodi wetland walk allows you to have an encounter with nature and the people. The swamp has counts of birds including the Great Blue Turaco, swamp animals like Sitatunga antelope and the touch of the community where you visit the traditional healer makes it more interactive. Retreat from this as an activity and return to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Day 3 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Drive along with the amazing sceneries of the Rwenzori Mountains and the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving along with the scenic landscapes of the legendary Rwenzori Mountains towering to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks and the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth lying on the Albertine flats. You will arrive in Bwindi in the evening, check-in at your lodge and spend and overnight.

Day 4 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Do gorilla trekking & relax at the lodge

6 Days Uganda TourFollowing breakfast at your lodge, you will gather at the respective park headquarters in the region where you are going to track for briefing at 8 am. The briefing which is conducted by the park staff details the conduct of gorilla trekking activity and at this moment, the gorilla family to track is also allocated per a group of eight (8) people. The eventual heading to the mist is a remarkable experience that will form part of your lifetime adventure. The forest tends to be covered by mist in the morning and hiking through the forest is an amazing adventure that is worthy of your gorilla permit price. The activity tends to last between 2 – 8 hours inclusive of a one-hour direct encounter with gorillas. Encountering the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is remarkably wonderful. These frightening and yet peaceful creatures would definitely welcome with fear and the silverback would have to punch a little on his chest to check your fighting status. Your concentration will be on your cameras as you take as many photos as you wish without a flashlight to avoid provoking gorillas to react.  Retreat from the activity when your time is used up and then return to the starting point and then transfer back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, do boat cruise & relax at the lake

After your relaxed breakfast, connect to Lake Bunyonyi driving through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands with remarkable sceneries. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you embark on a canoe ride with impressive views of the lake which has got 29 Islands. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6 of the 6 Days Uganda Tour: Transfer back to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the transfer to Kampala 437km about 7 hours’ drive. The drive will take you through impressive countryside landscapes marked with rural homesteads, cattle farms and banana plantations. The en-route small towns bustling with all sorts of informal businesses will make your way to Kampala. A lunch stop will be made at Igongo Cultural Center.
